Why would small businesses need CRM?

General

What is the most important asset or resource in a small business? Customers. If customers are the most important asset to a business, then how are you going to arrange your other resources to support your most precious asset?

This is why CRM is so important. CRM is focused on the customer. Everything about a CRM system exists for the benefit of your most important asset! So, do you need it? Of course! Now, you may already have a CRM system and not even know it, a diary, your head, a notebook. But imagine if you could have a piece of software that was dedicated to your customers, to track their details, their interests, upcoming and historical appointments, a history of conversations, the list goes on. Many CRM systems provide these things and more.

The power of a database really comes into its own in this situation, all of this information on your customers can be searched, reported on and extracted for your business pleasure. The power of this tool in your business is limitless, the more you use it, the more it pays off. If you tracked your customers birthdays in a CRM system, you could send out a birthday card to your customer with a coupon for a discount or some promotional offer. Now they have one more reason to do business with you. Not only that, but it builds the rapport between you and your customer. They know that you care enough about them for you to remember their birthday, and that means a returning customer.

Not only birthdays, but so much more which I’ll cover in a future article, but can you see that you need a CRM system? If you agree or disagree, especially if you have some examples to talk about please make a comment.

CRM Blog Released

General

Welcome to the CRM Blog. CRM (Customer Relationship Management) is a term which has had different meanings over the last few years. Some say that its all a waste of time, while others say that businesses can’t operate without it. I would say that most big businesses know where they stand in regards to CRM, so this site is not going to be aimed at them. Mainly I want to provide a helpful CRM resource for small businesses and non-profit organisations. We’ll see how it turns out!
